Jane Edwards Elementary Student Art

Be on the look out for student art from Jane Edwards Elementary around the festival grounds! Cesar (2nd grade), Derwin and Katie (3rd grade), and Emonee (5th grade) painted vibrant artwork focused on the oak trees and water that surround their homes on Edisto Island.

Jane Edwards Elementary, part of Charleston County School District, is a community school with one class per grade, serving PreK to 6th-grade students. It was built in 1960 and is located on beautiful and historic Edisto Island more than an hour from Charleston proper. Jane Edward’s principal is Rodney Moore and the art teacher is Cindy Jesup.

Artists:

Cesar, 2nd grade, painted his dream houses – a tree house, a home for his cat, and his family home.

Derwin, 3rd grade, painted the big oaks, and included birds, flowers, and grass because he sees them every day.

Katie, 3rd grade, painted mermaids because they are one of her favorite things.  She drew all the things she would like to see when she goes swimming in the ocean.

Emonee, 5th grade, painted the beach that she visits with her family.  She likes to imagine what everything would look like if she could go diving under the ocean surface.
